There were many nervous smiles and unsure steps as our newest group of Year 6 students arrived for the first Orientation Day for 2022 but it didn’t take long for the fabulous Year 10 students to break the ice and make our new recruits feel at home.
Mr Drewe welcomed the close to 100 students with his thumbs up, thumbs down barometer and we had a lot choosing middle ground at 9.30. However, the shift was clear when he tested the groups response at the end of the day with a resounding thumbs up across the board.
Year 6 said it best and I quote:
My favourite thing was cooking-it was fun!
The food and the service in the canteen was awesome!
Who knew separating a mixture was called chromatography? Science was really fun!
My favourite was drama!
We were nervous to catch the bus and come to high school but we’re not anymore- it was a good day!
And finally, my favourite: This has been the best day of my life ever!
With chocolate chip cookie fossil digs, apple pastries, maths brain teasers, science practicals and a chance to show their dramatic side, how could they not have had a marvellous day?
