About The Role
The responsibilities of a School Learning Support Officer may include, but are not limited to:
• Supporting the implementation of individual educational programs, transition programs and student behaviour management plans in both mainstream or special education settings.
• Assisting teachers, and working with individual students and small groups, to support the development of resilience, coping skills and positive relationships.
• Recording performance data during the implementation of individual educational programs.
• Serving as part of a transdisciplinary (educational/therapy) team in the development and implementation of individual educational programs.
• Providing students with assistance in school routines.
• Undertaking other related duties as determined by the principal or the supervisor.
Role Criteria
• Qualifications and/or demonstrated successful experience working with students with a variety of disabilities and/or support needs.
• Demonstrated ethical, professional communication skills, as well as the demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to implement wellbeing and individual education programs and provide assistance during school activities (including excursions) to ensure maximum participation by students.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and form positive, high quality relationships with students and staff
Who Can Apply
Expressions of interest are invited from staff interested in a career opportunity in the position of School Learning Support Officer. This is a temporary position, 5 days per week, commencing Monday 17 July 2023 and continuing to Friday 17 December 2023 with the possibility of extension.
Applicants require:
• a current Working with Children Check Clearance
• completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education
• a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.
