Position Information 

Scone High School is situated in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW and is a comprehensive, secondary school with an enrolment of 330 students, of which 20% are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.  


The school community is highly committed to Visible Learning and Positive Psychological practices, with a very strong link with a cross-sectoral community of schools across the Upper Hunter. 


Our learning community is very dedicated to an environment that enables visible growth of each student. The school is creating opportunities for students to fulfill their potential both within the school learning environment and increasing work & leisure opportunities in the wider community. 


Scone High School engages students from very broad educational settings and we pride ourselves in creating a positive approach to learning for all of our students. The school has a growing specialist support unit, consisting of three classes, an extensive Agricultural farm and modern teaching facilities, creating the greatest learning opportunities for all students. 


Our school strategic directions have a focus on Growth & Attainment, Leading & Learning and Connect, Engage & Flourish. All Head Teachers are the main leaders in these Strategic Directions.

Specific Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education (PDHPE) and approval and/or willingness to teach Community and Family Studies and Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation.
  2. Capacity for effective classroom management, and practices that support an inclusive learning environment, which promotes positive relationships with students.
  3. Ability to work collegially as part of a team, and a willingness to contribute to whole school and extra-curricular programs.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to ensuring success for Aboriginal students through engaging teaching and learning.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively within a faculty to write assessments and learning programs while making a positive contribution to the team environment.

 

Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

Special Notes 

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000.
